Our team wants to offer quality care for all patients, and to ensure treatment with precision and accuracy, then we will offer care with digital technology. From digital x-rays to the advanced iTero® systems, we can plan and implement care with precision. In today’s blog, your Brighton, MA, dentist talks about our digital technology!
Digital X-Rays
Instead of traditional x-rays, we opt for a digital alternative. With this option, you don’t need to wear uncomfortable bitewings. Instead, you simply put your chin on a special rest and a machine will circle your head to gather detailed, panoramic images of your teeth, roots, and jawbone structure. The system uses 90% radiation and the high-definition images allow us to make a diagnosis with precision and accuracy.
Chairside Monitors
When the digital x-ray machine captures images of your smile, we don’t need to wait for them to develop in harsh chemicals. Instead, we have a greener and convenient alternative. The images will be sent to chairside monitors so we can see them instantly. You spend less time in the chair and the images allow us to assess the state of your smile and to plan treatment with detail. If you need to see a specialist or if you move and have a new dentist, we can easily send these high-definition images to your new dentist!
The iTero® System
To ensure we create custom restorations and orthodontics with precision, we use the iTero® system. No need to take physical impressions, so you are spared biting down on a metal mold filled with gooey and poor tasting materials. Instead, we will use a tiny digital camera at the end of a thin wand to capture images of your smile from multiple angles quickly and comfortably. We then combine them to create a 3D impression of your bite. In a dental lab setting, this can be used to design and craft crowns, bridges, and dental implant restorations, as well as dentures. We can also create custom aligners for those undergoing Invisalign® treatment, or custom appliances to take on bruxism (teeth grinding) and TMJ disorder.
If you have any questions about how we use advanced technology as part of your treatment, or if you want to schedule a checkup and cleaning so you can start 2025 with a bright and healthy smile, then contact our team today to learn more.
