Cavities are common occurrences that many people experience during their life. When a patient gets a cavity, common actions like eating, drinking, and talking may be uncomfortable because of a toothache. If left untreated, tooth decay can make its way to the tooth’s pulp, which may result in the need for root canal therapy or a tooth extraction. By detecting cavities early with regular dental exams, we can treat them with dental fillings.

What are Dental Fillings?

There are several types of dental fillings but we use biocompatible composite resin instead of dark amalgam. Composite resin is safe and durable, and each filling is custom-tinted to match the surrounding tooth structure. The filling can help protect the tooth from possible decay in the future, too. When properly cared for, dental fillings may last up to 15 years.

How Does the Treatment Work?

We will start the treatment by taking a digital X-ray of your teeth so that we have the most accurate picture of your mouth. We will numb the tooth that needs the filling with a local anesthetic and then carefully remove the decay. We will add the filling to the tooth and use a light to harden it.
