Fortunately for older teen and adult patients with fully-formed teeth and jawbone structures, the need for straight teeth can be satisfied without having to bond semi-permanent brackets and wires to their teeth. Instead, we may recommend Invisalign® clear braces to discreetly restore your smile’s symmetry, and your bite’s proper function, using a series of removable aligners rather than conventional braces.

1: You Need Straight Teeth

The most important reason to consider orthodontic treatment of any sort is the effect that crooked teeth, or malocclusion, can have on how well your bite works. Ideally, your teeth should be perfectly aligned to evenly distribute your bite’s pressure among themselves. When teeth are crooked, they increase your risk for a number of dental issues, including;

  • Excessive tooth wear and possible damage from uneven bite pressure
  • Tooth decay and gum disease, due to difficulty with properly brushing and flossing crooked teeth
  • Damage to your jaw’s joints from overcompensating for the imbalance (TMJ disorder)
  • Jaw and facial muscle fatigue as they grow exhausted from trying to keep your bite even

2: You Don’t Want to Wear Braces

Despite the functional issues associated with malocclusion, the most pressing reason for straightening teeth is often their appearance. If your confidence is at stake, you might not be eager to wear conspicuous metal braces to correct your smile.

Invisalign’s aligners are constructed as solid, form-fitting pieces of clear acrylic that fit snugly over your upper and lower teeth. Unlike braces, the aligners are thin enough not to disturb the appearance of your mouth, making them virtually invisible, and can be removed before eating and brushing your teeth so you can maintain your normal daily routines.

3: The Consultation is Free

Wondering if Invisalign is right for you? Come in for a free Invisalign consultation, during which we’ll thoroughly examine your teeth and oral structures, and discuss your needs and expectations, before recommending clear braces or other appropriate treatment options.
