Braces don’t have to be the only option for addressing misalignment. In fact, we offer our Brighton, MA, patients a unique option for correcting uneven smiles. With Invisalign®, we use clear aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. Invisalign® enables our patients to enjoy better oral health and a more attractive smile!

The Benefits of Correcting Uneven Smiles

How does improving your smile’s alignment boost oral health? Well, first you need to understand how misalignment actually impacts your smile. Since uneven teeth are difficult to brush and floss thoroughly, they provide hiding places for food parties. Over time, bacteria break down these particles, increasing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease in the process. Our dental misalignment also strains our jaw joints. For some, this means an increased risk of TMD and teeth grinding, damaging the smile and leading to uncomfortable symptoms, such as headaches and jaw pain. To avoid these scenarios and enjoy better oral health, we urge Brighton, MA, residents with uneven smiles to see us for treatment.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Invisalign® doesn’t use metal braces. So, instead of brackets and wires, we take detailed digital impressions of your teeth, which will be used in an Invisalign® lab to create a series of aligners from a clear plastic material. When worn, the aligners help reposition teeth, with optimal results often achieved in a year for adults or up to 18 months for teens, on average.

What to Expect Each Day

Each day, you will need to wear them for the amount of time your dentist recommends, which usually falls between 20 and 23 hours. You remove them before meals and place them back in afterward. We suggest rinsing your mouth with water or flossing before placing them back in if you consume sugary foods and drinks. You can also take them out before special occasions or prior to brushing and flossing, but be sure you still wear them as long as the dentist recommends.

After around two weeks, you move on to the next set. Over time, the aligners will begin to reposition your smile. You’ll see us for occasional visits, so we can monitor your progress. If you have any questions about the clear aligners orthodontic process, or if you think you’re ready to try our clear braces, then contact our team today. We’re ready to help you start a journey towards a healthier smile!
